The Origin - Cain's Legacy

Every Legacy has an Origin... In the beginning, long before the rise and fall of empires, there was Cain, the firstborn of humanity, who carried within him the weight of a terrible sin. In a moment of jealous rage, Cain took the life of his brother Abel, committing the first murder known to man. For this, he was cursed by God to wander the earth for eternity, marked with a sign so that none could kill him, but also condemned to a life of suffering and endless regret. Cain became the first immortal, a being who could not die, destined to live through the ages, bearing the burden of his crime.

As the centuries passed, Cain roamed the earth, his soul tormented by the weight of his sin and the isolation that came with his immortality. In his endless search for redemption—or perhaps simply to ease his loneliness—Cain began to experiment with his immortality through his blood, a substance imbued with the curse of eternal life. He found that, when mixed with certain ancient relics and rituals he discovered during his wanderings, his blood could grant immortality to others, an Immortal Bloodline, though at a terrible cost. Those who drank from the chalice of Cain’s blood would gain eternal life, but they would also inherit a fraction of his curse—an unending thirst for power, a struggle against the darkness within, and a destiny intertwined with suffering.

Over the millennia, Cain left behind relics—chalices, swords, and bloodstones amongst others—each one imbued with his blood and the promise of immortality and passed secrets down to religious figures and the dark deities they called Gods on how to harness this power. These relics were hidden across the world, guarded by ancient secrets and protected by powerful forces and beings. Only those who were willing to pay the ultimate price, who sought power beyond mortal understanding, could unlock the relics’ true potential.

Over the centuries, in each different age and as each of the great Empires branched out and conquered and explored these relics were found and their secrets unlocked. Each of these factions, and countless others across history, were linked by the blood of Cain, each creating its own Immortal Bloodline. They were his creations, his test subjects in an experiment spanning millennia. Cain’s true purpose was to find a way to break his curse, to discover whether there was a path to redemption or if he and those he had cursed were doomed to suffer for eternity. By spreading his blood and creating these immortal factions, Cain hoped that one of them might find the key to breaking the curse, or at least help him understand the nature of his damnation. But as the centuries wore on, it became clear that Cain’s experiment was as much a curse as it was a potential salvation.

Each group of immortals struggled with their own burdens, their own darkness, and the power that came with their eternal life. Some sought to use their power for good, others were consumed by it, and all were haunted by the knowledge that their immortality was not a gift, but a curse passed down from the first sinner, Cain.

As the modern era dawns, these immortal factions remain scattered across the globe, their influence felt in the shadows of history. And Cain, the first immortal, continues his endless journey, watching over his creations with a mixture of hope and despair. Perhaps one day, one of them will find the answer he seeks. Or perhaps they are all doomed to suffer as he has, bound by the curse of blood and the weight of an ancient sin. As time passed he realized that maybe the secret was not to pass on the curse and the damnation it represents but to pass on the wisdom and the understanding he had harnessed from the years wandering the earth and the things he had seen and done. So he began to counsel, to spread words of wisdom to select people in the hope that knowledge would hold the key to salvation and not blood. Those people, despite not being immortal, have become legends, tied to immortality by their legacies and not their blood.

The story of Cain, and those he has damned, is one of power, redemption, and the eternal struggle between light and darkness—an unfinished tale that continues to unfold across the centuries.
